COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CALCULATING MACHINE (DESK TOP, 12 DIGIT DISPLAY/PRINT)
The General Services Administration has authorized the
use of this commercial item description.
Salient characteristics:
120 V a. c., 60 Hz.
Basic five function capability: +, -, x, - %.
Minimum 12 digit capacity for all entries, intermediate results and final output.
Arithmetic logic: Plus, minus, subtotal, and total keys.
Clear/Clear Entry Key (C/CE).
Repeat additional and subtraction.
Decimal system with minimum settings of +, F, 0, 2, 3, 4.
Constants: First entry on multiplication (multiplicand) and second entry in division (divisor) shall be utilized as constants; automatic constants are acceptable; constant switch is acceptable; constants switch shall have ON and OFF positions only.
N Count (item count): Minimum acceptable form shall count the number of plus and minus operation%
Percent: Minimum capability shall be Add-on (70+) and Discount (%-) using percent key in conjunction with plus or minus keys.
Overcapacity indicator shall meet the following minimum conditions:
1) entry capacity exceeded
2) output capacity exceeded
3) illegal math operations (error)
Print OFF/ON switch: Minimum capability “Print and Display” and “Display Only”.
Subtotal and total capability.
Non-Add/Date Key: Shall print entry without performing a function, print entry in date format (decimal point punctuation is acceptable), and color or print location shall clearly distinguish a non-add /date entry.
Buffered keyboard: Minimum 7 stage buffer.
Rounding: Minimum selection shall be round-off (5 up, 4 down).
Computing machine paper: 2 to 3 inches wide, shall not fail due to use of low grade recycled pap6r.
Two color ribbon: Standard commercial colors, negative entries shall print in red.
Punctuation: Shall be on both print and display; comma shall separate hundreds, thousands, etc. , and a decimal point shall separate dollars and cents,
Accumulation capability: Unit shall be capable of adding or subtracting an entry or output to an independent register. Accumulations shall not interfere with other operations and vice –versa (accumulator, memory, accumulating register, memory register).
Print speed: 2.5 lines per second minimum.
Printer life: 1 million cycles minimum.
Keystops: Shall have a minimum striking surface of 10mm, measured horizontally, and minimum center-to-center spacing of 16mm, measured horizontally.
Safety. Calculators shall be certified by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., for compliance with UL Standard No. 114, Office Appliances and Business Equipment.
Workmanship. Calculators shall be clean and free from faulty construction or any defect which affects appearance, serviceability, or durability.
The issue of UL No. 114 in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with stated requirements.
Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling and marking. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
