The General Services Administration has authorized
the use of this commercial item description.
Salient characteristics.
120 V a. c., 60 Hz.
Basic five function capability: +, -, x, +, %.
Minimum 12-digit capacity for entries, intermediate results, and final output.
Arithmetic logic: Plus, minus, Subtotal, and total keys.
Clear/Clear Entry Key (C/CE).
Repeat addition and subtraction.
Decimal system with minimum settings of +, F, 0, 2, 3, 4.
Constants: First entry in multiplication (multiplicand) and second entry in division (divisor) shall be utilized as constants; constant switch is acceptable; constant switch should have ON and OFF positions only.
N count (item count): Minimum acceptable form is to count number of
Percent: Minimum acceptable capability is Add-on (%+) and Discount (%-), using percent key in conjunction with plus or minus keys.
Overcapacity indicator shall meet the following minimum conditions:
1) Entry capacity exceeded
2) Output capacity exceeded
3) Illegal math operation (error)
Negative indicator: Shall be displayed with all negative amounts.
Subtotal and total capability.
Rounding: Minimum capability shall be round off (5 up, 4 down).
Punctuation: A comma shall separate hundreds, thousands, etc., and decimal shall separate dollars and cents.
Accumulation capability: Unit shall be capable of adding or subtracting an entry or the results of an operation to an independent register. Accumulations shall not interfere with other operations or vice-versa. (Accumulator, memory, accumulating register, memory register).
Keystops: Minimum striking surface of 10mm, measured horizontally, and minimum center-to-center spacing of 16mm, measured horizontally.
Safety. Calculators shall be certified by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., for compliance with UL Standard No. 114, Office Appliances and Business Equipment.
Workmanship. Calculators shall be clean and free from faulty construction or any defect which affects appearance, serviceability, or durability.
The issue of UL No. 114 in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with stated requirements.
Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
