CALCULATING MACHINE
(DESK TOP, 10-DIGIT DISPLAY/ THERMAL PRINT)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
Salient characteristic.
120 V a. c., 60 Hz.
Basic five function capability: +, -, x, +, %.
Minimum 10-digit capacity: Entries, intermediate results, and final output shall have a minimum capacity of 10 digits.
Arithmetic logic: Plus, minus, subtotal, and total keys function to add, subtract, arrive at subtotal or total, respectively.
Clear/Clear Entry Key (C/CE).
Repeat addition and subtraction.
Decimal system with minimum settings of +, F.
Constants: First entry in multiplication (multiplicand) and second entry in division (divisor) will be used as constant. Automatic constants are acceptable. Constant switch shall have ON and OFF positions only.
Percent: Minimum capability shall be to compute Add-on (%+) and Discount (%-) using percent key in conjunction with plus or minus key.
Overcapacity indicator shall meet the following minimum conditions:
1) Entry capacity exceeded
2) Output capacity exceeded
3) Illegal math operation
Print ON/OFF switch with minimum capability of “Print and Display” and “Display Only.”
Subtotal and total capability.
Buffered keyboard: Minimum seven-stage buffer.
Rounding: Minimum rounding selection to be round-off (5 up, 4 down) in add mode.
Punctuation: Shall separate hundreds, thousands, etc., with decimal separating dollars and cents appearing on display.
Accumulation capability: Unit shall be capable of adding or subtracting an entry or output to an independent register. Accumulations shall not interfere with multiplication or division, and vice-versa. (Accumulator, memory, accumulating register, memory register).
Print speed: 2.0 lines per second minimum.
Printer life: One million cycles minimum.
Keystops: Shall have a minimum striking surface of 10MM, measured horizontally, and minimum center-to-center spacing of 16mm, measured horizontally.
Safety.Calculators shall be certified by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., for compliance with UL Standard No. 114, Office Appliances and Business Equipment.
Workmanship. Calculators shall be clean and free from faulty construction or any defect which affects appearance, serviceability, or durability.
The issue of UL No. 114 in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with stated requirements.
Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
