CALCULATING MACHINE
(DESK TOP, 12-DIGIT PRINT ONLY)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
Salient characteristics.
120 V a. c., 60 Hz.
Basic five function capability: +, -, x, +, %.
Minimum 12-digit capacity on entries, intermediate results, and final output
Arithmetic logic shall include plus, minus, subtotal, and total keys.
Clear/Clear Entry Key (C/CE).
Repeat addition and subtraction.
Decimal system with minimum settings of +, F, 0, 2, 3, 4.
Constants: First entry in multiplication (multiplicand); second entry in division (divisor). Automatic constants are acceptable; constant switch is acceptable. Constant switch should have ON and OFF positions only.
N count (item count): Minimum acceptable form of N count is to count plus and minus key depressions.
Percent: Minimum acceptable capability is computation of Add-on (%+) and Discount (Z-), using percent key in conjunction with plus or minus keys.
Overcapacity indicator shall meet the following minimum conditions:
1) Entry capacity exceeded
2) Output capacity exceeded
3) Illegal math operation (error)
Non-add date key shall be capable of:
1) Printing an entry without performing a function
2) Printing an entry in date format (spaces or decimals are acceptable punctuation)
3) Clearly distinguishing by color or print location a non-add or date entry
Minimum seven-stage buffer on keyboard.
Minimum rounding shall be selection to round off (5 up, 4 down).
Print on standard 2” – 3” wide paper shall accept without failure low-grade recycled paper.
Two color ribbon shall be standard commercial colors: Negative entries and negative results shall print in red.
Punctuation shall appear on both the display and printout: Comma shall separate hundreds, thousands, and millions. Decimal shall separate dollars and cents (e.g., 1,000,000.00).
Accumulator capability: Accumulator, memory, accumulating register or memory register.
Print speed shall be at least 2.5 lines per second.
Printer life shall be a minimum of one million cycles.
Keystops shall have a minimum striking surface of 10mm, measured horizontally
Safety. Calculators shall be certified by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., for compliance with UL Standard No. 114, Office Appliances and Business Equipment.
Workmanship. Calculators shall be clean and free from faulty construction or any defect which affects appearance, serviceability, or durability.
The issue of UL No. 114 in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with stated requirements.
Regulatory requirements. The offeror/ contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
